The Ranch

About Harper, Tx

In January of 1847, John Meusebach rode out from Fredericksburg to meet the Penateka Comanche chiefs in the San Saba country, and that May the peace they worked out was signed back in Fredericksburg. Folks here still celebrate the Meusebach Comanche treaty as a peace that was never broken, and however historians weigh it, it opened this western stretch of the Hill Country to families looking for a place to settle. The town of Harper grew up in that opening, first settled in 1863 and later named for postmaster George Franklin Harper, and it has been the trade hub for this ranching country ever since.

Harper Ranch sits beside that old community, about 23 miles west of Fredericksburg, and it wears the town's name honestly. All told the ranch runs 162 acres, and the land here is sized with the Hill Country homesite in mind, enough ground for some quiet without more country than one family can keep. Simple deed restrictions rule out commercial use, so what your neighbors build out here will be home places too.

We carry the financing ourselves, as little as 5% down with notes that can run up to 30 years. Call us with your questions, or come see the treaty country for yourself.
