The Ranch
About Pumpville Ranch Subd
The name does not dress anything up. In 1887 the railroad drilled wells six hundred feet down along the transcontinental Sunset Route and built a pump house to water its steam locomotives, and a little stop called Samuels became Pumpville. When diesel finished off steam, the depot closed in 1952, the water quit in 1955, and the town settled into life as a railroad ghost town. What the trains left behind was quiet, and plenty of it.
That quiet is the whole point of the ranch that carries the town's name. This is western Val Verde County, canyon country in the Pecos River region beyond Del Rio, the same stretch where Judge Roy Bean called himself the Law West of the Pecos and ran his court at Langtry for the better part of twenty years. Out here the country runs big and lonesome, the kind of ground a hunter or a determined hermit can get properly lost on. Restrictions stay light and commercial operations are kept out, so the silence you buy stays bought.
Owner financing keeps the door open, as little as 5% down with notes running up to 30 years. Call us, or better still, come stand out here and listen.
